      Aloha e LeeR, Nice to make your acquaintance. My partner and I are also excited to embark on the aircrete pathway. Happy to learn there are other "domies" on island. Lets stay in touch. Perhaps we can offer some assistance once we gain some basic knowledge of this process. I've been practicing woodworking and furniture making in Ka'ū for over 30 years..

      Are there any workshops being planned for this summer and in the midwestern region? I plan to take my first workshop after I graduate High School.

      Could dome and arch forms could just also serve as reinforcement.

      @KnowItAllTeen Aloha Eli,
      Iʻm Thomas, new to this forum. I have had this same/similar idea I think. I want to create a plywood panel for a ceiling. I vision the plywood having tar paper as the moisture barrier, then aircrete covered with re-enforcement fabric with a painted on waterproof membrane over this and finally sod for a living roof. It seems plausible to me but I have no experience yet.
      I am registered to attend the February workshop on the Big Island of Hawaii.
      Your question is relevant to my own so Iʻll be following this post. Thanks for posing it.
      Malama Pono,

      Aloha e,
      I am a newbie here on the forum. I just signed up for the February Big Island workshop. I am curious to meet others who registered for this workshop. I envision my 1st project to be a small tool shed with a living roof using an arched aircrete laid over a curved plywood panel. Oh, so many questions do I have.

      @Samstefanski HI There, I'm in Palos Verdes Ca, I'm interested in building a dome w Hempcrete, I'm planning on using rebar and stucco mesh for structural integrity. My samples are very sturdy and hard, mixes include mortar and stucco one coat, also using an interior one coat plaster

      @KnowItAllTeen
      I hadn't considered geothermal, but there's a possibility the land owner would build a cluster of domes, then they could maybe share one unit to heat all of them. He also has his own digger so the cost of trenching would be minimal. I love the idea of using the earth to heat and cool the domes. Thanks for the suggestion! If you have time on your hands next November come on down to New Zealand for our workshop. We're just in the beginning stage of pulling it all together.

      @Kia-Nasseh Lining aircrete molds with thin plastic sheets is a common practice. The use of vinyl, even ultra thin plastic kitchen wrap, is very helpful especially if the plastic is then coated with oil.

      Hello
      crack filling may only last one or two seasons depending on the cracks activity, crack sealing can last up to 8 years or more and is considered a permanent treatment. And it can be done on the temperature 40°F.

      If you are paying attention to world events you know there is a manufactured energy/supply chain shortage/disruption being orchestrated.

      Fuel cost is embedded into every thing your buy/do. It all rolls down hill to your pocket book.

      NOTHING will change till a majority of people stand up and demand things change and justice is done. The orchestrates must be held accountable.

      We in the alternative living/building world are doing our part. We must find a way to bypass the tyranny of the dollar enslavement. Help out our fellow man.

      I am a big follower of Michael Tellinger's One Small Town UBUNTU movement.

      For now my friend save, live frugal and do your best. Never capitulate and never give up. The Universe will provide a way.
